The whole Great Hack documentary had me thinking, what Cambridge Analytica did is pretty much what we do when building Brands for businesses. Major Advertising firms do psychographics, an old strategy in behavioral science, we’re taught in design school.

It’s interesting, what the student in documentary said to Parson professor. She don’t mind advertising like many don’t mind, but she asked “when does it turn sour?”

So does it mean if Hillary had won and used Cambridge Analytica, (more than likely the Democrats used a competitor. Trust me), would people care how their data and personality test were used to manipulate them to think of who they should vote for in the election? One thing I did notice, they failed to mention in detail, the 200+ apps, FB eventually banned from installing onto their platform, like those “Harry Potter quizzes” “MyPersonality” users took and allowed to get access to their page to share results to friends. In turn the apps were able to collect “personality” “emotional” data and along with “likes” and brokered deal with Cambridge Analytica and sold the data. What most people do not know, these apps are still alive and well. Finding a list of all the apps is quite difficult to find online. Rumor has it, many were Russian and Israeli made. Similar to the Old Age Face App, made in Russia. Very interesting.
